I just wanted you to know how happy we are with Hobie. Harley has finally decided to play with him but he still wants his time alone. The kids take turns sleeping with him and who gets to hold him. He has fit in great and is great with the kids. I also want you to know he has ony had 2 accidents and that was our fault because we didn't take him out as soon as we all got up. He is so smart and you can really tell how much time and love you gave to him. We got Harley from a breeder in Gloucester Va. and she had a large building and it had several areas for the different litters. I can only assume that the only human contact that they got was when someone came to look at them and when they went to the vet. We had a really hard time house training him and he was not as lively as Hobie. After about 3 days, when we brought Harley home at 6 weeks, he got sick. He had pneunomonia. I really think he was sick when we got him because he slept the first 2 days. I called the breeder to see if any of the other puppies were sick and she said no and that he had checked out fine from the vet. About 3 months later, I noticed that this same breeder was selling all her puppies and was getting out of the business. She had at least 10 dogs. Harley recovered and I think he is a beautiful dog, and he is great with the kids and has not had any problems since then. I am just letting you know all this because I was a little concerned about getting another dog from a breeder and we didn't see your home or anything before, but the website and all the updates was what sold me. I just wanted you to know that you have done a great job and we are so happy with him. He is so smart and I can't believe that at 8 weeks he is house trained. He comes to his name and he is just so fun. In the future, if you would like to or if you know anyone who would like to use Harley as a stud, we would be interested. I will send you pictures soon, again thanks so much.

Of course I could tell you the same things. Edmund is great. He doesn't always come when called and has accidents in the house on occassion. However, he is very loved and wonderful with Jenna ( his best friend).
Thanks
Sarah.

When we first purchased our cocker from Tobie, we already had an adult German Shepherd. She is trained to perform many tasks to help me. We were not sure how things would work out between them. Sam won her heart after a great deal of work on his part.

Firsthand experience through raising Cocker Spaniels myself when I was younger, has taught me that there are many considerations in breeding responsibly.  There are many dogs of all breeds out there which should never have been bred in the first place. They lack conformation, personality traits and the intelligence that are characteristic of their respective breed. It takes careful planning to breed any dogs with expectations of puppies that can live up to the breed characteristics.

We were fortunate enough to have purchased our cocker, Sam Cloud Walker, from a responsible breeder, Tobie Davis. She understands the importance of not only having a Cocker of conformation that meets the standards of the breed, but also a disposition that is gentle for families and children. Our Sam was easy to train in multiple tasks. I am wheelchair bound with multiple sclerosis. You might expect training a puppy in multiple areas would be difficult for me. Not so with Sam. He came with a gentle loving disposition. He was willing, from the beginning, to learn just about anything I could think up. He can pull me around a store easily. He responds quickly to my every command.

Sam has never met anyone he doesn’t love. He is loving and gentle around adults and children alike. Our vet is amazed at how he lets strangers come up to him the lobby of her office and pet him. She says Cockers and German Shepherds are the two breeds she dreads most. Poor breeding gives dogs a bad reputation. When it comes to our two dogs, our vet is puzzled by their obedience and gentleness after treating so many of those dogs I say should never have been bred

Sam is so pretty that everyone who sees him wants to rub him. This has gone on since we first got him. So now when he sees anyone he thinks there is a great massage coming.

Tobie’s careful selective breeding is responsible for a well rounded Cocker Spaniel. If you are looking for a laid back, loving, gentle, trusting Cocker Spaniel, I would highly recommend Tobie’s Cockers. There is no greater testimonial that can be given than the one Sam can give you, brains and beauty. Sam says it all. His picture is on Tobie’s website.

Hello, I got your website from a friend of mine that got a puppy from you. I have a 7 year old buff male AKC Cocker. He has the best/most unique personality of any dog I have ever met. I have been looking for a female to breed him with strictly to get one of his puppies. My whole goal in this case is to have one of his puppies with at least a similar attitude/personality before he gets too old. I am hoping he will basically help me raise the puppy. Is this something you would be interested in or would you perhaps know someone that you trust that would be interested? Also, I love your site and you have absolutely beautiful dogs. It is clear that you truly love your animals and are not an irresponsible breeder that is only in this for the "prestige" and money. I look forward to hearing from you.
